A coastline full of surprises, among Mediterranean flavors and a clear sea.
On the eastern side of Monte Cofano, overlooking the Gulf, there is the tower of the ancient tuna fishery, also known as the Tower of Tonnara.
We are inside the natural reserve of Monte Cofano, a charming landscape, a mix of Mediterranean bushes and pristine sea.
The Tower of Tonnara was used for the defense of this part of the coast; in the past this tower communicated with the others in case of danger. The Tower is set to become home to an ethnic-anthropological centre, with the aim of introducing visitors the many aspects of this territory; the effort to visit it means enjoying a panoramic view.
Many small houses of fishermen, the majestic tower and the exuberant nature of the landscape are the seductive setting of an unreachable beauty, with a crystal clear sea with the addition of the charm of a place blessed by old myths. Here emerges the rck of Scialandro, the same one named by Virgilio in the Eneide, where they say took place the legendary Enea's Ludi.
Snorkelers can explore the rocks to enjoy the beauty of the sea ground, while those who love to lay on the rocks can enjoy the peace of this place, away from the crowds.
From here you can walk to discover the natural reserve.
A path, in fact, skirts the hill and takes the other side where there are the famous caves of Scurati. Some stretches of the path overlook the sea and the show is provided by a memorable view. From emerald to turquoise are just some of the thousand shades that this sea assumes during the day. You will never be tired of admiring this view.
A unique experience for those who go in search of small corners of paradise!
