Since 1998, during the last week of September, there is the famous Cous Cous Fest, one of the most interesting culinary events in the summer of San Vito Lo Capo.
The Cous Cous Fest is an important moment to meet new people and new cultures, simply talking about a simple dish. The Mediterranean cuisine, the passion for food, the cultural exchange and the integration among peoples are very evident during these days.
It can be considered a challenge for all those people interested in the culinary world.
Every year several worldwide famous Chefs arrive to this corner of western Sicily. They cook together the original recipes of cous cous surrounded by an increasingly large and attentive public.

The festival lasts a week in which in addition to taste the Cous Cous you can participate to cultural events, cooking workshops, talk shows and seminars, while in the evening, in the main square of San Vito Lo Capo there are live  music and shows. The Cous Cous, in the beautiful surroundings of San Vito Lo Capo, is not just a simple dish, but becomes the desire for a better world.

Every night, a different artist performs on the stage next to the Sanctuary.
The journey among cultures also takes place through the encounter and the discovery of new rhythms and melodies.
The stage of the Cous Cous Fest, for many years, is home to the most famous musicians, sensitive to the issue of peace and contributing to a continuing dialogue between peoples.
All shows are free.

Chefs from All over the world take part to the challenge.
For the first time, during the last edition there were 10 countries that participated to the international culinary competition: Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Israel, Palestine, Italy, France, USA.
A jury, composed of journalists, chefs and food & wine experts, chaired by Paolo Marchi, presents the award for the "Best Cous Cous Jury" and two special prizes, too.
The technical jury is supported by a popular jury composed of more than one hundred jurors, who after tasting the recipes of the chefs express their opinion by voting.
The jury is open to anyone, who wants to join it.

The country becomes a great permanent gastronomic laboratory during the event.
The most original recipes and traditional flavors come together in a celebration that gives space to the imagination, never forgetting the tradition.
In this gastronomic village there are many stands where you can taste more than 30 different recipes for couscous ... choosing one of them will be a problem!
Cannot miss the traditional Sicilian cannoli, cassatelle or almond cookies ... of course always combined with local wines. For those who wish, however, to learn how to make couscous and discover the technique “dell'incocciatura”, they can attend classes taught in the many gastronomic workshops.

It consists of two coupons. The first gives the right to have a portion of couscous and a glass of wine. The second one is to taste a typical Sicilian dessert. The ticket costs 10,00 Euros, you can buy it from 12.00 to 24.00 h. at the ticket offices of the event.

In Via Regina Margherita, at the corner of Via Abruzzi, you will taste the international variations of cous cous, a triumph of flavors with exotic ingredients.

The most fragrant recipes of the territory are in via Venza. Here you can find, in addition to couscous, even some traditional dishes as Busiate with pesto Trapanese (pasta with pesto).

The traditional cous cous and those of the countries that overlook the sea. In the square of Marinella vegetables, meat and fish will enrich the Mediterranean couscous.

On the beach, at via Savoia, you can taste the couscous in a fascinating Berber tent, decorated with elegant sofas and Arabian décors. On the menu, traditional recipes and international dishes. A unique experience on the seashore.

In Marinella square, the fishermen of San Vito Lo Capo become exceptional cooks. The audience watches them with curiosity while they fry in a big pan of 5 meters in diameter the freshly caught fish.

- Cous Cous Lab
Throughout the week, you can attend the Cous Cous Lab, where you can taste the recipes prepared directly from renowned Chefs, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, listening to their stories.
A wonderful opportunity for those who love good food and the culinary culture. A real treat for those who enjoy a good Sicilian wine.
The participation to the full calendar of Show Cookings is limited.

- The Expo Village
In the main streets of San Vito Lo Capo you can find a real market; a thousand scents where you will find crafts and local flavors mixed with those of distant lands. A great opportunity to bring home objects and culinary delights of great quality.

- Café le Cous Cous
During the evenings, in the Sanctuary square you can follow the interesting Talk Show Festival at 21.00 h., before the concerts begin.
Many guests of the "Café le Cous Cous" every year debate on the issues that affect not only the food, but also the undeniable influence that this issue has on society.
