Castelluzzo and Macari near San Vito lo Capo

Just before arriving in San Vito Lo Capo you cross the two small villages of Castelluzzo and Macari, two nice places must to discover. In this places the life flows slowly, they are surrounded by a lush and an unspoiled nature, just a few kilometers from the most fascinating bays of western Sicily, Santa Margherita bay and San Vito Lo Capo bay.

Castelluzzo is into a large valley called "Valle degli ulivi" and it is set among the ancient Ponte Biro and the Nature Reserve of Monte Cofano. This area is famous for its fragrant oil that gives flavor to every dish and that has become the chosen location for the lovers of nature.
It is possible to buy the very good oil directly from the farmers.

The surrounding countryside is full of almond and olive trees, a real show expecially in spring.
Castelluzzo offers many B&Bs, hotels, holiday houses, restaurants and little shops.
It is a little paradise for the lovers of nature.

Macari is the smallest village close San Vito Lo Capo.
Here life flows quiet, traffic does not exist, loud music does not reach it, the only sound you hear in the morning is the singing birds.
Macari is perched on a ridge and in front of it there is a spectacular view over the amazing gulf.
On the left there are the cliffs of Cala Mancina, ideal place for climbing lovers, while in front of it there is the beautiful Nature Reserve of Monte Cofano ( trekking )
From the top of Macari you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

In a few minutes you can reach the several beachs, some of them are really corners of paradise.

  • From June 1 to September 30, from 8.30 to 20.30, the area is closed to vehicular traffic and visitors who want to reach the various parts of the coast.

  • Visitors with disabilities can enter by car. Two dedicated parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the sea.

  • You  can park for free in one of the two parking lots, in Macari or in Castelluzzo, and use “ Ercolino”, the tourist train. The rides are every 10 minutes. The service is free
