Sicilian cuisine. Are you ready to enjoy the journey through the flavors of our land?
Thanks to its location at the center of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily was the land of interest for many people. The sicilian cuisine is the result of the mixing of many cultures and traditions. Greeks , Phoenicians , Arabs, French and Spanish have introduced in Sicily new crops and products increasing the wealth of the today local cuisine.
Wine, garlic, onion , olive oil, capers, oregano , almonds, chocolate …. have played a major role in the creation of special and delicious dishes.
Of course fish is the protagonist of the cuisine of San Vito Lo Capo, always fresh thanks to our rich sea. It is prepared in many ways by the chefs of the several restaurants: seafood risotto, spaghetti with sea urchins, spaghetti with clams, cassatelle in fish broth, fried nunnata ( little fish) and many others are the most chosen ones. Flavours often stolen from the simple but tasty cuisine of the fishermen.
The main dish of the cuisine of San Vito Lo Capo is certainly the Cous Cous , now worldwide famous thanks to an event which every year brings in this corner of Sicily people from all the nationalities, the Cous Cous Fest. This event represents an important moment of integration around a traditional Mediterranean dish.
But the local cuisine is also rich in other treats, both sweet and savory, as the Pesto Trapanese , Cannoli with ricotta cheese, Pasta busiata, the Sicilian Cassata, Marturana Fruit, Arancini, Granita, Street food (Panelle and crocchette, etc. ), Ice cream …. it is impossible to resist !
Do not forget to try, in San Vito Lo Capo, the ”Caldo Freddo”, a mix of chocolate and hazelnut, ice cream with sponge cake, rum and a lot of hot chocolate …. a trou taste for the palate!
Our suggestion is to taste a bit of everything for an uforgettable tasty experience.
